We support the right of women political scientists to speak of their experiences. We deplore the harassment that thwarts women\u2019s abilities to rise to their potential as scientists and scholars and contributes to enduring gender inequalities in our profession. The experience of harassment, particularly by a trusted teacher, mentor, or senior colleague, can reduce a woman\u2019s productivity, deny her recognition, undermine her confidence, and limit her access to professional networks. While we recognize that each episode is unique, we are confident that our disciplinary associations, including but not limited to APSA, as well as the universities where we are faculty members, will take proper steps to investigate and adjudicate each allegation.<span class=\"apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div>\n<table id=\"t1\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td>\n<h4><strong>CSWP-WCPS-APAC-Latino Caucus Joint Statement on Sexual Predation<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"color: #993300\">&#8220;We stand by all people who are survivors of sexual predation, and offer our support to anyone seeking protection or advice. We urge everyone, including those who may not have experienced sexual predation themselves, to learn more about this problem and its wide-ranging impact on our academic community. APSA, The Women\u2019s Caucus for Political Science, and the APSA Committee for the Status of Women in the Profession pledge to work together to help our discipline eliminate bias against women of all races and ethnicities.&#8221;<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<\/div>\n<h2>APSA Reporting<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/connect.apsanet.org\/respect\/submit-a-grievance\/\"><span style=\"color: #993300\"><strong>APSA EthicsPoint Incident Reporting<\/strong><\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #993300\">What is EthicsPoint?<\/span>\u00a0EthicsPoint is a comprehensive and confidential reporting tool created by NAVEX Global to assist APSA with managing reports of harassment from meeting, conference, and workshop attendees, individuals with professional ethics grievances, and general ethics inquiries, related to an APSA entity or event, from APSA members and non-members. EthicsPoint will also be used to address professional ethics grievances and complaints submitted by APSA meeting conference and workshop attendees.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Resources for Survivors<\/h2>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #993300\">The Betty Glad Legal Defense Fund<\/span><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #993300\">About:<\/span> The Betty Glad Legal Defense Fund was established to help women who believe they have been victims of discriminatory conduct or conditions. Members of the Women\u2019s Caucus for Political Science who believe they have been victims of discriminatory conduct or conditions may apply for a small award from the Caucus\u2019s Betty Glad Legal Defense Fund. The Glad Fund makes awards of up to $1,200 for legal consultation. In deciding whether to fund the applicant, the committee will not judge the merits of the case. A paid receipt from a lawyer\u2019s office for the first visit of the Caucus member is required before the Legal Defense Fund will reimburse. The Betty Glad Legal Defense Fund pays the first lawyer\u2019s consultation visit for WCPS members exploring a gender based discrimination suit. It is for members of the Women\u2019s Caucus only. To be eligible for funds, you must have been a member for a year at least.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #993300\">Action:<\/span>If you believe you have been subject to discriminatory practices and wish to apply for assistance from this fund, first please contact Dr. Laura Woliver and let her know you are going to a lawyer.
