{"id":427,"date":"2021-06-23T15:52:50","date_gmt":"2021-06-23T19:52:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/web.apsanet.org\/mena\/?page_id=427"},"modified":"2023-03-01T11:26:54","modified_gmt":"2023-03-01T15:26:54","slug":"videos","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/web.apsanet.org\/mena\/videos\/","title":{"rendered":"MENA Webinars"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">South Caucus of International Studies (GSCIS):\u00a0Writing\u00a0and\u00a0Funding\u00a0Research\u00a0from the Global South<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns alignwide is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:50%\">\n<p>International academic rankings for publications\u00a0and\u00a0research\u00a0institutions are overwhelmingly led by institutions in the global North.\u00a0Researchers in the global South are underrepresented in many of these international\u00a0funding\u00a0institutions\u00a0and\u00a0academic journals of notoriety. In their own institutions, these scholars are increasingly expected to publish in top\u00a0funding\u00a0institutions\u00a0and\u00a0academic journals, which is itself an added hurdle for their career development given the difficulty of their positionality to access these platforms. This panel gathers experts with career experience in the global South\u00a0who witnessed these hurdles\u00a0and\u00a0who have collected tips\u00a0and\u00a0techniques to overcome some of them. The webinar touches upon four dimensions of career development: 1) participation in\u00a0research\u00a0workshops; 2) grant applications; 3) article\u00a0writing; 4) turning a PhD dissertation into a book.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:50%\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube
