The Road to International Publications Workshop – September 2021

The faculty of Economic Studies and Political Science at Alexandria University organized a 3-day hybrid workshop designed to support early and mid-career researchers with publishing their papers in peer-reviewed journals. Organized by Dr. Islam Abdelbary and Dr. Noha Nagi, the workshop covered a wide range of topics on academic writing and the publishing process. Twenty-one graduate students and post-doc fellows received training in academic writing and citation management using EndNote. The attendees also learned about effective academic networking and targeting the right audience and journals with the best possible impact factor. The training featured speakers from the American University in Cairo (AUC) and the Arab Academy for Science and Technology and Maritime Transport (AAST).

Visualizing the Doctoral Thesis Workshop – April 2021

The faculty of Economic Studies and Political Science at Alexandria University organized a 3-day virtual workshop focused on helping graduate students successfully undertake graduate research and present a strong research thesis. Dr. Sherien Nosier and Dr. Islam Abdelbary organized the workshop with the goal of equipping both Masters and PhD students with the skills needed to identify a thesis topic and plan their research process. The workshop sessions discussed a range of quantitative and qualitative research methodologies, how to assess thesis quality, and common challenges doctoral researchers face. The training was attended by 15 political science and economics graduate students from various Egyptian universities and educational institutions, including Alexandria University, Al-Azhar University, Arab Academy for Science and Technology, American University in Cairo, and ESLSCLA University.
